Black House: A Novel Characters

Jack Sawyer

Jack Sawyer is the main character in the story. When he was younger he had to save his mother from certain death. Jack is a loner avoiding questions about his past and his family. He has blocked out memories about the time when he was young and the parallel universe, called the territories. Jack had been a detective in California with the L.A.P.D. and was one of the best. Jack begins to have visions regarding his forgotten past and believing the job has gotten to him, retires early on the money his deceased parents left him.

Because of his visions, which Jack describes as "waking dreams," he is reluctant to start any more police work even though his friend, Dale Gilbertson, is desperate for Jack's help on a current case.
