Ribbon

Bonnie and Jasper Stone have kept track of the advanced babies in western sector by writing them down in code on a ribbon. Gaia is given this ribbon by Bonnie's assistant, Old Meg, at the beginning of the novel and when she is arrested the ribbon falls into the hands of the Enclave. Gaia helps decipher the code and uses it to identify one of her brothers and Captain Grey's biological parents.

Yellow Pincushion

Gaia has a yellow pincushion in her bag that her father made for her. This pincushion is confiscated upon her arrest, and she later sees a child in the Bastion playing with it.
