Chapters 6-10 Summary

Chapter 6. The Obelisk. Gaia spends most of the day dying an outfit red as per Derek's instructions that she dress in red. When she is ready, Gaia goes to Derek and he immediately walks her to a place in the wall where the stones are loose. Gaia slips in and walks toward the Obelisk where she knows the prison stands. Gaia is at a loss as to where to go from there or how to get to her mother. Then the square is transformed as a planned execution begins. The criminals are a man and a woman who broke the rules against possibly related people marrying one another. Gaia is shocked when she sees that the woman is pregnant.
