Summary

While Valerian and Laureline are talking with some of the aliens, Sul climbs out of the pit and begins yelling for the others. He says he is going to “thrash the Master” in a loud voice (31). Valerian tries to make him stop yelling as the others begin to climb out of the pit. The two women are thrilled with a new adventure; the man who wants to conserve his energy does not want to go; the man who thinks he is a bird plans to fly; the prospector questions the need for a new place to dig; and another says they should not go. Once they are all out of the pit, Laureline says she thought they were headed for their ship. Sul continues to be overly loud. Valerian hesitates but Laureline points out that the others are coming just as they appear...
