Stardom

The effect of stardom on a person is a theme in this novel. Throughout the novel, the actors in the movie are seen interacting with their fans. Reid is one of the few characters who really enjoys the attention that he gets from the fans and media. Although he is probably the most shallow person in the novel both morally and emotionally, Reid does have a good grasp on his relationship with his fans. He knows that their feelings about him can change on a whim. He does not get too upset by these people though he is deeply affected by the rumor mill. He seems to put more stock than he should in the rumors that are spread about a relationship between Graham and Emma. He tends to believe these rumors more than he believes what Emma tells him.
