Chapter 13 Summary

Bone hides the hook in the rafters above the washing machine at home. Having it there makes her nervous, and she worries that someone will find it. Mama tells her she's changed and that she's gotten taller. Mama then tells Bone that Shannon Pearl called and that Bone should consider returning the call. Mama has not asked why the girls fought, but she did give Bone a lecture about hitting people. Shannon calls again before Thanksgiving, and Bone answers the phone. Shannon says she's not going to apologize, and the girls have a terse conversation. Shannon invites Bone to a barbeque, saying her mother said she should call and invite Bone. She also says she got a record player, which piques Bone's interest. Bone says she doesn't plan on going, but she ends.....
