Chapter 5 Summary

Glen wants to adopt the girls when they have enough money, and he says that they are a family now. Reese calls him Daddy, but when Bone tries to say it, it sounds funny to her. She continues to doubt herself about what happened in the car, wondering if it really happened. Glen acts like nothing happened, so she isn't sure. She thinks that maybe he really does love them. Bone watches as Glen hugs Mama and Reese, and she wants to be a part of that, too. When her eyes tear up, Mama picks her up, and Glen glares at Bone. Later, Glen says that he doesn't like the girls listening to Granny's stories, saying that she's a liar. He tells the girls that they are his now and to stay away.....
