Chapter 2, A Boy and A Man Summary

The crevasse is narrow but deep. Rudi cannot see the bottom. He calls out and is answered by a voice. The voice is German, not Swiss - so Rudi knows it is not a man from Kurtal. He finds out that the man is trapped on a ledge about twenty feet down. He cannot see the man due to the angle of the chasm.
