Chapters 23 and 24 Summary

John calls Mike and after Mike admits to inviting himself to lunch with him and Mattie, John tells him that Rogette called with news that Mattie was given an inheritance by Max. It came with the condition that she spend at least the following year in the same home on the TR. The legacy is forfeit if she isn't tucked into her bed on TR-90 every night. Mike and John both know that if contested, Mattie will win the settlement without the condition.
