Part 3, Chapter 8 "The Egoist" Summary

Mr. Thompson, Head of State, and his cronies have no idea what to do about Galt's speech. He asks for advice. Dagny suggests they give up and get out of the way. They and their world will be destroyed. They should let the competent people take over and create the means of human survival. Mr. Thompson wants to be flexible and deal with Galt. After Dagny and Eddie leave, Stadler tells Thompson they have to kill Galt. He says that Dagny will lead them to him. Thompson wants to persuade Galt to make things work. He believes that all men are open to deals.

When Eddie and Dagny are many blocks from the station, Eddie admits he has been talking to Galt, who works for Taggart Transcontinental. Dagny tells Eddie.....
