Merit discovers she is pregnant despite the fact Mr. Paradise told her he was unable to have children. Mr. Paradise is thrilled and immediately proposes. The wedding is a simple affair at the courthouse. Merit and Mr. Paradise settle into a comfortable marriage. Merit's daughters are thrilled with the situation too because Mr. Paradise has always been a good father to them and this makes it official.
