In the aftermath of Kent State, Slip joins a protest at a local Norwegian festival. While there Slip runs into Faith who is in the company of a woman who does not agree with Slip's politics. However, Slip does not take offense at Faith for her choice of friends. At home, Slip learns her brother has been injured in Vietnam but he is okay and is coming home. A month later, Audrey is preparing for the book club meeting when she becomes convinced her husband is having an affair. Things have been tense for Audrey and Paul since she became pregnant with their third child and have continued to be tense since his birth. However, Audrey cannot focus on this thought.....
