As Kari prepares for the book club meeting, she remembers the night she brought Julia home from San Francisco. Kari hid the baby in her luggage when she got out of the taxi and then told Slip she was not feeling well so she would not come over. Kari and Julia spent the night hunting out old baby equipment Kari put in the attic when her last attempt at adopting failed.
