Chapters 9-11 Summary

When Edgar and his IAD partner return from notifying Catalina Perez's family, they tell Harry that Catalina Perez was a housekeeper who worked so many jobs that she had to keep track of them in a notebook. However, the notebook is missing. Another IAD agent returns with the search warrants Harry requested. Harry takes the one for Elias' office and gives the one for the apartment to Edgar, instructing him to make sure he is the one to retrieve the phone book and answering machine tape. Edgar and the other IAD detectives are to search for Elias' car and canvass the buildings surrounding Angels Flight. Finally, Harry, Rider, and Chastain go to search Elias' office. Harry, Rider, and Chastain meet assistant D.A. Janis Langwiser in the lobby of the Bradbury Building where Elias keeps his office. Langwiser reads the search...
