Section 2: pages 21-40 Summary

Paige sits at a table near a window in a run-down truck stop, pretending to read the paper. She arrived too early because she is excited, and at 9:04 A.M., a gray Toyota Corolla parks in a spot further from the entrance. Paige joins Keith and a girl she does not know, and they drive in silence for a while. When Keith announces they are clear, the tension in the car evaporates as he introduces Paige to Lindsay and points out a bag of clothes for Paige in the backseat. It all began at her brother Bobby's funeral a year ago when she makes plans with Bobby's best friend, Carter Gattling, and his girlfriend, Jodie. After hanging out at a bar for a bit, they invite her to a party on the lake, but Paige goes to bed when Carter and Jodie disappear...
