Chapters 41-50 Summary

Chapter 41: Amy

Doc storms off. Elder says he will talk to Eldest. Harley asks Amy if she wants to go back to the ward. Amy says she cannot bear to be inside any more. She wants to go to the garden. There are people everywhere, mating. Amy says they can go to the wheat field which is almost deserted. Harley wishes he had had the foresight to bring his paints. Amy tells Harley to go back and get them. Harley warns Amy to be careful and then leaves her.

Amy wanders deeper into the wheat field. She sees Luthe, who calls out to her. The other men with Luthe laugh. Luthe says he wants to have a freak. Amy begins to run. Luthe chases her. Amy trips over a couple on the ground. Luthe attacks Amy and begins to rape her...
