Summary

Later in the morning of July 13th, the day of the bombings and the attempt on April’s life, April, Andy, and their cameras push their way into the crowd surrounding New York Carl. They are advised not to go outside but do not listen. April speaks to the camera and gests to the crowd, and she truly believes the inspirational talk she gives. She says, “This is what humanity is, solidarity in the face of fear...If the Carls are here for any reason...then maybe they’re here not to learn about us but to teach us about ourselves” (242).
