Gerolimenas

Gerolimenas is a small Greek village on the Mani Peninsula, and it is the setting for most of the action in the novel. Christopher goes to Gerolimenas to study Greek mourning rituals, as he is writing a book on mourning practices. However, Christopher soon goes missing, and his wife, the book’s nameless protagonist, goes to Gerolimenas to look for him. Gerolimenas is situated on the Mediterranean coast, and many tourists visit in order to enjoy the beaches. Gerolimenas contains the hotel where Christopher stayed, as well as a church that the protagonist visits. Christopher’s parents, Isabella and Mark, also come to Gerolimenas once they are informed of Christopher’s death.
