In chapter 26, Ellie is now a boy again and has a mother with a black face. He has eight brothers and sisters. The puppy ponders all the things he has learned in his different lifetimes. What is the reason for this rebirth? Someone congratulates the owner, called Colonel , on having a litter that will bring top dollar. However there is some concern about the puppy who was Ellie.
