Summary

Fayre realizes that the third test will kill her, as Amarantha would never allow her to live. The later is planning a war on humans using the help from the King of a second Faerie realm named Hybern. Fayre slips into a deep depression, and only snaps out of it when she hears beautiful music from an unknown source.

The day before the final, Rhysand takes her to one final celebration. She and Tamlin are able to sneak away and kiss in a fury of passion. However, Rhysand catches them and sends Tamlin away. The paint Rhysand puts on Faye to show if anyone has touched her is smudged. So, in order to hide it, he kisses her himself as the Queen walks in. Amarantha mocks Fayre, saying that her heart is easily swayed. Tamlin looks angry, but does not say anything...
