Miles Ryan

Miles Ryan is a sheriff's deputy. Miles has lived in New Bern all his life and married his high school sweetheart. Two years ago, Miles' wife, Missy, was killed when she was hit by a car while jogging. Miles has struggled with his grief, which has been compounded by the fact that they never found out who did it.

Miles has recently come to the realization that he is lonely and he is not the kind of guy who can be content without a partner in life. For these reasons, Miles is open to a new relationship when he meets Sarah Andrews, his son's second grade teacher.
