In How I Changed My Life, a chubby, unpopular girl, Bo Vine, and a football player try to find new personas for themselves that will make them happier and more comfortable with their self-images. Bo Vine insists on being called De Vine and loses weight. She makes brief appearances in Girl Gives Birth to Own Prom Date but has little to do with the novel's characters and plot.
