Focus on Esnet
Operated by the U.S. Department of Energy, ESNET is short for the Energy Sciences Network. The goal of the high- speed network is to provide a link for collaboration between DOE scientists, researchers, and other staff throughout the country and abroad. Begun in 1976, ESNET was able to connect to more than 100 other networks by 2002.
