The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) began work in 1947. Founded in Geneva, Switzerland, its goal is to create standards to be used in technical and nontechnical fields. For example, it works on issues pertaining to language, measurement, parts and components, and procedures and methods. More than 100 countries belong to the ISO.
