H.G. Wells (1866–1946) is remembered for many works of fiction, including The Invisible Man, The Time Machine, and The War of the Worlds. His contemporary, Jules Verne (1828–1905), is also remembered for numerous works of fiction such as Around the World in Eighty Days and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.
