Ebola and HIV are both viruses, and that's where the comparison ends, really. Ebola has a short incubation period and is 90%fatal within days/weeks. HIV infected people may not even exhibit symptoms but become carriers (so no lethality). Additionally, people with HIV can live decades with the disease before they die from its complications. Ironically, HIV doesn't kill its host. It just weakens the host to the point where infections from the flu, pneumonia, or some other common cold, can kill them.
