Define Interoreceptive Receptors?

Interoreceptive Receptors are of 2 types namely:

1. Visceroreceptors

2. Proprioceptors

Visceroreceptors

The receptors situated in the viscera are called visceroceptors.

Stretch receptors, baroreceptors, chemoreceptors and osmoreceptors are the visceroreceptors.

The visceroreceptors are situated in heart, blood vessels, lungs, astrointestinal tract, urinary tract and brain.

Proprioceptors

Proprioceptors give response to change in position of different parts of the body. The proprioceptors are:

i. Receptors in labyrinthine apparatus

ii. Muscle spindle, Golgi apparatus, pacinian corpuscles and free nerve

endings, which are present in muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and joints.
