Autonomic nervous system consists of both the parasympathethic and sympathethic divisions.They are nerve cells that exit the central nervous system [brain and spinal cord], at various points from the brain to the lumbar region and synapse with neurons outside the CNS in order to effect their response at designated target organs,and they are mediated by neurotransmitters epinephrine/nor epinephrine for sympathethic and acetylcholine for parasympathethic.Their peripheral group of cells that they synapse with as well as the proximal part post ganglionic fibres make up the ganglions.The distal end of the post ganglionic fibres end at the target organs to effect its action
