Why are the tops of some mountains almost always covered by clouds? Prentice Hall - Science Explorer.

These types of clouds are called lenticular clouds and are caused by air that is being lifted as it goes over the mountain. This lifting cools the air to below the dew point and clouds form. On the other side of the mountain the air warms back up because it is above the dew point and the clouds disapear.
