Homeostasis is a state of balance or equilibrium in the body's internal environment. This occurs because of interaction and action on behalf of the body's system working in tandem. Respiration is one of those processes that allows for the function of many other organs and systems. Oxygen, the elimination of wastes and toxins, respiration is a key component to the continued function of an organism.
