Lush tropical rain forests grow in the tropical wet climate. What factors encourage this growth?

Plants need several things to make them grow optimally: sunlight, water/nutrients, and soil. The rainforests are full of all of this on a consistent basis. There is nothing to stop, impede or slow down their growth rate, like a frost or snowfall might.
