The Prokaryotae are a group of organisms that lack a nuclei and chromosomes, with smaller ribosomes and can spread genetic material through species barriers by a viral like transduction. They produce rapidly by binanry fission and are assexual with a variety of metabolism types. Bacteria, blue-green algae and certain microbes fall into this catgegory. Given this, then, studying bacteria can lead to very important discoveries about various biological processes, as well as give rise to cures for diseases.
