A polar molecule can enter a cell only if it uses a type of facilitated diffusion. The phospholipid bilayer (which can be both hydrophobic and hydrophilic) makes it difficult for polar molecules to enter because of the charges. The only way it can really make it through is through the use of a transport protein and/or transport membranes.
