There is compelling evidence for the big bang theory (BBT). One of the biggest factual evidences is the expanding universe theory. In a nutshell it is a measurement of light from various stars and the frequency they possess. The other evidence is the clearly homogenous nature of the universe. Another argument lies in the consistent observations showing that, as one examines older and older objects, the abundance of most heavy elements becomes smaller, asymptoting to zero. Most inherently believe that the BBT means that there was a huge explosion and everything was rocketed into space. However, new data indicates that it is more a continuing expansion.
