People who are considered sterile can't reproduce because either the male's sperm is immature and unable to successfully fertilize an egg or a woman perhaps isn't even producing eggs or perhaps her fallopian tubes aren't open. If the egg and sperm don't combine or when they are there are problems with the sperm or egg or even both then there is no way that successful fertilization can occur.
