y^2 -12y+35=0

(y )(y ) ( -7)( -5)=0

(y-7) (y-5) = 0

Check:

(y-7) (y-5) = 0

(y)(y) (y)(-5) (-7)(y) (-7)(-5)=0

y^2 -5y -7y +35=0

y^2 -12y +35=0
