What were the Native Americans called before they left Asia?

The first Native Americans believed to have come to North America from Berengia and beyond were called Paleoindians. I see no evidence of a name originating before their migration from Asia. DNA evidence shows there is no direct ancestral link between the North American Native Americans and their Asian ancestors.
