As a result of the Industrial Revolution, the populace was exposed to new and ever changing cultural activities. The advances in technology allowed for more free time and people enjoyed their leisure moments in a variety of ways. Newspapers and books became cheaper and easily accessible; kindergarten was introduced, which allowed students to begin their education at an ealier age; amusement parks popped up around cities everywhere, and cultural activities that combined the old and the new became popular.
