How did the fur trade contribute to the French and Indian War?

According to the text, the seeds of the French and Indian War were planted when British fur traders began to journey into the Ohio River valley during the 1750s, in addition to the colonist the British wanted to send to settle there. The appearance of the British in such large numbers alarmed both the native Americans and the French.
