The Scopes trial did not specifically present banning evolution as a censorship issue in the trial It is, however, seen as an attempt to censor a specific topic from the public school. The Scopes trial, thus, serves as an example of a censorship vs. free speech issue. The prosecution banning evolution in the schools because it presented a danger to the community and students. The defense argued that banning the topic violated Scope's right to free speech.
