Who was Brutus in the play?

Brutus is a Roman noble from an old and respected family. He is honorable, and a close friend of Caesar. An idealist, Brutus feels that Caesar has broken trust with the empire making himself emperor. Because of this, he joins the conspirators in planning Caesar's death.
