Who is Mary Hall from Eleanor Roosevelt: A Life of Discovery and what is their importance?

Mary Hall was Eleanor's grandmother. After Eleanor and her brothers lost both parents, they were raised by Mary Hall, who decided she would be strict in their upbringing because she felt she'd failed miserably with her own children.
