Johnny Wilson is one of Cory's friends. He is badly beaten when the Bralin boys attack the group, and he is left with a concussion that excludes him from many summer activities. As a result, Johnny teaches himself to box with a book written by Sugar Ray Robinson. When Gotha Branlin attempts to beat Johnny up again, Johnny fights back, teaching Gotha an important lesson. As an adult, Johnny becomes the chief of police in a city in Florida.
