Who is Charles Sherrington from The Hand: How Its Use Shapes the Brain, Language, and Human Culture and what is their importance?

Sir Charles Scott Sherrington was the scientist who claimed that the tip of the thumb and and index finger are treated by the brain like sensitive parts of the retina. Sherrington was a Nobel laureate and served as the president of the Royal Society in the 1920s.
