What is the difference between parody and allegory?

I'm learning about allegory and satire in school, and this has a been a question that I have yet to find a clear answer to. Thankyou for helping :)

A general deffinition is:

As nouns the difference between allegory and parody is that allegory is the representation of abstract principles by characters or figures while parody is a work or performance that imitates another work or performance with ridicule or irony.
