The Satan Bug-Alistair MacLean- has a dedication to Bill Campbell. I have recently obtained a signed first-ed copy of Ice Station Zebra by A MacLean and there is a hand-written dedication to him-Info?

Had to cut that short. The written dedication is :- "To Bill Campbell with best wishes-Alistair Maclean July 17 1963"

Any information re Bill Campbell would be appreciated. Alistair MacLean dedicated "The Satan Bug" to this person---possibly other books also?

Friend /army buddy/author?----Brian

Bill Campbell was a friend of Alistair Maclean. Bill was an ex-Royal Marine (WW2) and one of the nicest, most unassuming people you could meet. He was well into his retirement when I met him, always inventing little gadgets in his garden shed. He and Alistair would go sailing together around Loch Ness. Sadly, Bill died about 20 years ago in Hamilton, Lanarkshire.
