The reconstruction of Healthcliff is crucial to the development of the plot in the novel, Wuthering Heights simply because of the type of story that it is. The suspense elements, the high emotional drama would not have been as impactful had it unfolded in a linear manner. Told in this way, piecing it together much like a detective mystery, this novel utilizes all of the literary elements (symbolism, imagery, etc) to further the themes of the story, but also to allow the novel to unfold much in the way that it unfolds to the protagonist.
