The poem, The Seafarer, has many themes, but the one that directly relates to his adventuring ways as a young man is the theme of discontent. His heart is restless and he yearns for the sea, altthough there is a part of him that does not want to go. This pulling and pushing in his soul only finds rest when he turns to God. Thus, what is implied is that despite the adventure and the traveling, the only thing that satisfied him was his relationship with God.
