In the canterbury tales The monk skin complexion was not pale. What does this suggest about the time he spends indoors in his monastic cell reading scripture?

The monk is indeed as tanned and as toned as any regular man in the community, thus suggesting that he does not spend much of his time in pious contemplation within the confines of his monastic cell. In fact, he subtly boasts of his talent with snaring his prey (both four legged and two legged).
