no because none of your hands are free
From a technical aspect both the man and the man and the bag have done work to do the displacement of both objects and force applied. However the Ladder did no work.
no, the man climbing the ladder does the work by pushing against the ladder (placed on the earth) so the man is pushing against the weight of the earth which is large enough not to be noticeably moved. the ladder is doing no work, as to do any work at all energy is required after climbing the ladder for a while especially if the ladder is tall, the man will grow tired as he will run out of energy. the ladder supported by the earth moves with an equal force (but in an opposite direction) to that of the man climbing up the ladder. the ladder can be said to be storing energy by holding the weight of the man up and the downward acceleration of gravity when he jumps off is the releasing of this stored energy. the ladder does no work unless it itself pushes the man upwards mechanically somehow.
